Description
E/Z PurgeŽ is an ammonia-free, water-based product that removes and
cleans unwanted color, material or burned polymer from extruders, injection
or blow molding equipment. Purging is a critical part of routine maintenance
but costly in terms of system downtime, wasted materials and labor costs.
The efficient action of cleaning and purging with E/Z PurgeŽ enables you to
make quick, complete changeovers from one color to another and from one
resin type to another using your own scrap resin. E/Z PurgeŽ is safe for
workers and the environment.
3 Levels of Purging Excellence
E/Z PurgeŽ: To be used as a quick, economical method to
clean injection and blow molding machines and film and sheet extruders which
are of a clean, smooth design with minimal changes of resin and routine,
frequent cleaning, works well with PE and PP.
E/Z PurgeŽ Heavy Duty: To be used where mold designs are
more complicated, product runs are longer, color and resin changes more
frequent, works well with PP, PE, Nylon and Polyester. Works well when
mixed with scrap scryllic or any type of scrap resin for a more aggressive
purge.
E/Z PurgeŽ Super: To be used where mold designs are more
complicated, product runs are shorter, color and resin changes more
frequent, works well with more rigid materials, PVC, Nylon and Polycarbonate
and especially with molds prone to produce burnt polymer. Works well
when mixed with scrap acryllic or any type of scrap resin for a more
aggressive purge.

Directions for Use1. Fill a plastic container
with double the amount of resin needed to fill the extruder barrel, or the
amount usually used, if less.
2. Pour E/Z PurgeŽ into the resin, mixing
thoroughly using non-absorbent gloves, at approximately 2% of E/Z PurgeŽ by
weight. Example: 12 lbs. of resin = 4 oz. of E/Z PurgeŽ; 50 lbs. of resin =
1 lb. of E/Z PurgeŽ. Simply multiply your pounds of resin by .02 and that
will indicate the amount of E/Z PurgeŽ to use.
3. Set the zone temperatures of your machine
slightly lower than normal operating temperature.
4. INJECTION AND BLOW MOLDING: Feed the E/Z
PurgeŽ resin mix into the hopper very slowly with the extruder set at 10 to
15 RPM. Continue feeding the purge mix until you see the material coming out
of the die. When the material comes out from the die, stop the screw for
several minutes to let the E/Z PurgeŽ work. Start up again and feed the next
resin into the machine.
5. FILM AND SHEET EXTRUDERS: Use the same
procedure above but wait 10 to 15 minutes before starting up again.
6. Before feeding new resin into hopper, be sure that
all moisture is removed and screw is stopped while drying.
7. For very dirty machines or severely burned on
material, the above procedures may need to be repeated.
8. Using E/Z PurgeŽ in a weekly preventive maintenance
program can eliminate polymer buildup on machine parts. |
